“This mix is about remembrance, and these are songs that remind me of loved ones that are now gone. These are songs they loved, songs I hear and can’t help but see their face, and songs that I want used when I pass on one day. As personal as this mix is to me, these are songs you, your tia, tio, cousin, friend, mom, or dad might have listened to as well. Music is unifying and nostalgic. Music is magic and it is powerful. A song comes on and we can see them dancing while cleaning the house, driving down a winding road singing at the top of their lungs, or sitting at a table tapping their fingers to the beat on their cup of coffee. Their memories live on in us and in the songs and things they loved. May we think of them fondly and often reminisce of those times your loved one danced in the kitchen to their favorite song.”

Stephanie is a DJ from Mercedes, Tx that has a great respect and love for Dia de Los Muertos. She studied tv/film and theatre at UTPA. She is a sucker for the film, Jaws, and movies about music. Stephanie has a love for things that are old or previously owned. You can often find her at an estate sale or thrift shop when she isn’t at the movies or spinning records. Stephanie is often inspired by the strength and love of her family and friends and by the beauty that is the Rio Grande Valley.
